Best Buy for Education

Best Buy invited me to help launch a new library of marketing videos about Best Buy Education.

Motion Graphics, 3D Animation, Live Action
I concocted a healthy mix of design, 3D animation and live action compositing to elevate the Best Buy brand and adding the sense of fun and discovery technology can bring to the classroom.

CHALLANGE:
How do we elevate the Best Buy brand while focusing on the hands-on aspect of working with technology in schools?
IDEA: DOODLES COME TO LIFE
Doodling in a notebook can be fun, surprising, and sometimes lead to creative insight. Building on this idea we were able to make beautiful sequences to communicate the organic use of technology in classrooms today.
DESIGN DETAILS:
NON-PHOTO REAL 3D RENDERING (NPR)
Using 3D animation we were able quickly produce animation with the look and feel of hand drawn doodles without the labor intensive process of hand drawing each frame.
LIVE ACTION:
BRINGING IT ALL TOGETHER
All animation needed to be placed into the final edit. We used industry leading tools for motion tracking, rotoscoping and matching camera moves to set our doodles into the perfect place.
